Whew! This weekend was a complete whirlwind for the YCS team!! YCS Alexis popped over to the Fashionaires Vintage Designer pop-up (which you’ll hear all about on Wednesday), we did a venue site visit (for a very special event coming up for you guys – deets soon!), and we managed to cover both nights of Philly Fashion Week’s runway shows (which we’ll be featuring throughout the week)! I’m completely exhausted just thinking about it. Needless to say, a Sunday morning brunch among girlfriends was just what the doctor ordered for my complete recovery!
The brunch guests and I received this completely adorable invitation (pictured below) for “Girlfriends Brunch” from YCS fave, and my good friend, Karima of Skinny Minority (www.skinnyminority.com). An afternoon of girl talk, delicious food, and mimosas? Sign me up now!
The ladies and I arrived for brunch at Talula’s Garden (210 W Washington Square Philadelphia, PA 19106 I www.talulasgarden.com) – an adorable eatery located directly across the street from Washington Square Park near Olde City Philadelphia. The restaurant is tucked away behind iron gates and if you blink you’ll totally miss it. You can eat outside in the garden (which is apparently pretty magical, especially at night) or inside, like we did (which is pretty spectacular in its own right). In fact, we were seated at the table show in the second picture below. Pretty cool, right?

The atmosphere was warm, cozy, shabby-chic (heavy on the chic), and totally inviting. And, the service was top notch! It was the perfect place for all of the ladies – myself, Karima, Taja of Curvy Urbane (www.curvyurbane.com), Georgette of Grown and Curvy Woman (www.grownandcurvywoman.com), Onyx of The Creative Nous, LLC (www.facebook.com/creativenous), and Maryam of Indique Hair (www.indique.com) – to get together and talk business and pleasure – almost exclusively pleasure.
Karima pulled together an eclectic group of young, upwardly mobile, sophisticated, and fun ladies for this event. In a world where women are often times catty, cruel, and competitive, it was refreshing to come together for some good old-fashioned fun with these girls. Even though we were a group of young entrepreneurs, bloggers, and career-minded individuals there was no sense of competition among us. Instead, it was pure camaraderie as we exchanged stories, ideas, suggestions, and invitations to each other’s events. Moments like the ones I shared with these girls are exactly what I mean when I say “chic isn’t an adjective; it’s a way of life.” Check out some of the pictures from our wonderful brunch!

Of course we had to get a couple of photo ops before we all parted ways. Looking fabulous ladies!
Talula’s Garden will definitely become a staple on my favorite restaurants list. It was a wonderful dining experience. And, I’m looking forward to our next Girlfriends Brunch!
How do you guys wind down the weekend? Let YCS know in the comment below!
