YCS Erika’s Mary Kay Must Haves

Fun fact: I used to be a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant.

I think that sometimes Mary Kay products get a bad rap because people don’t really know about them or people have a particular idea about them in their heads. In my opinion, Mary Kay has some stellar make-up and beauty products on the market. As a consultant, not only did I get to play in make-up all the time (win!) but I also made a few good friends along the way. While it ultimately didn’t pan out as a career for me, I did pick up a few tips and tricks along the way. I also have a list of products that I still swear by from the Mary Kay collection – and I haven’t been a consultant in years!

My Mary Kay Must Haves are:

Mary Kay Medium Coverage Foundation (Bronze 600) – I am one seriously oily sister. And while I swear by Laura Mercier foundation in the summer, I stick with MK during the winter months. It’s one of the only brands where I have been able to find my true shade when I am no longer sun kissed and I love how light it feels on my oil-prone skin.

Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Make-up Remover – In my opinion, this is one of the best eye make-up removers you will find on the market. It’s reasonably priced ($15) and works well. It is super gentle which is why I even use it while I’m still wearing my contacts. If you’ve ever used Victoria’s Secret eye make-up remover (which is apparently what the Angels use) I would say it is similar to (if not better than) that.

Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss (Cream and Sugar) – The Cream and Sugar shade of this gloss was one of the most popular shades of lip gloss when I first became a consultant and this still holds true. I love it because it works stand alone on my lips or over lipstick. I love to pair this shade Moreange from MAC to give a warm fall glow. Actually, I love to pair it with anything!

Peach Satin Hands Pampering Set – This set is pretty amazing and includes hand softener, hand scrub (peach scented), and hand cream (peach scented). It makes my hands (and feet) super soft during the cold, dry winter months. I’ve been using it faithfully ever since I was introduced to the product and it’s doubtful I’ll ever give it up. If you aren’t a fan of peach this set also comes in an unscented version. It makes a great gift during the holidays; however, you’ll probably want to keep one for yourself! Be warned, once people catch wind of this product they’ll forever try to steal it from you!

Mary Kay Mineral Bronzing Powder – I prefer to use the Bronze Diva (matte) and Desert Sun (shimmer) shades. They add highlighting and warmth without being too overdone. At any given time you can find this in my purse, make-up bag, or both.

See something you like? Lucky for you I’ve got a great girlfriend, Kirby, who is a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. I cannot vouch for all Mary Kay Beauty Consultants out there, but I can certainly vouch for Kirby. She is professional, sweet, and really, really good, no GREAT, at what she does! She is also an Advanced Color Consultant and, as you can see from her picture, she knows what she is doing!

It really doesn’t get simpler than that now does it? And, if you’re local and interested in hosting your own pampering session you can contact Ms. Kirby to set that up as well.
