Meet YCS Alexis

By Erika, Resident Fashionista

Our readers don’t miss much, so I’m sure you guys have already become quite familiar with YCS Alexis through her blog posts, Instagram a pics, and event coverage on Twitter and Facebook. However, I wanted to take a minute and formally introduce you to the “newest but not new” member of the YCS, Alexis aka “CEO Jr.” We brought Alexis to YCS to help with all things YCS, but specifically event management and planning. And, she has been amazing since she joined the team! If you’ve already been lucky enough to work with Alexis then you know exactly what I mean. Take a minute and get to know Alexis a little bit better!

Alexis is a college graduate of West Chester University. Even though her major was History, her passion is event planning. One day she would love to plan events for a big company like Tiffany & Co. Fashion and styling are also other passions for her, and she is the go-to-guru for her friend’s fashion needs. Alexis loves watching everything Bravo but she also enjoys the television dramas like Revenge and Grey’s Anatomy. She is a small girl in a big world and cannot wait to travel all over the globe and share her passions.

1. What one word best describes you?

Fun-loving

2. What were you like as a kid?

I always loved to perform and wanted to be everything under the sun from being a ballerina to being a veterinarian. I was a bossy kid though. Lol. I really liked things my way, but I was also very sensitive so that usually did not mix very well together.

3. What is your secret fashion/make-up/hair weapon?

Highlighter! I put it on my checks, under my eyebrows, and on my cupid’s bow. It adds so much more light to your face!

4. What makes you laugh, uncontrollably, without fail, every time?

The YouTube video of the camel giggling gets me every time!

5. What is your favorite food?

I LOVE cheese. My favorite is probably feta.

6. What 3 movies can you watch over and over?

Tommy Boy, Gladiator, and The Day After Tomorrow

7. What would you do with $1 million dollars?

Buy myself an apartment in Philly and a new car. Then I would probably by myself a lot of designer clothes. I would definitely save it though. It needs to last!

8. What is the best course you took in college.

The best class I took in college was probably History of the Italian Mafia. I took this when I studied abroad in Italy and I learned so much. I now know how to dispose of a body without getting caught so don’t cross me ;-).

9. If you could invite any 5 people (ever) to dinner, who would you choose?

Jake Gyllenhaal (for obvious reasons), Julia Roberts, Oprah, Tom Hanks, and Julius Caesar.

10. What are your words to live by?

Do they best you can do because it is all you can do. In other words, don’t make such high expectations for yourself. If you do your best it will be enough.

11. What is your website, twtter, instagram, pinterest, facebook, etc. (any applicable social media you’d like to share)?

I told you she was awesomesauce! We are excited to have Alexis on the YCS team and I’m sure you guys can’t edit to see more from her!

And one final note, THANK YOU to everyone who voted for YCS for the Black Weblog Awards! I am THRILLED to announce that we won the “Best Plus Size Fashion” blog category this year! While we don’t focus exclusively on plus sized fashion, you all know that it us something that we support and post a lot about – and we will continue to do so as long as I’m running the show. I am so excited and thankful for the YCS family who continues to support us. ALSO, a HUGE shout out to YCS Torrey and YCS Donte for being finalists in the “Best Blog Post” series category! That is a huge accomplishment and I’m so thankful to have you both on the YCS team and, more importantly, as my friends!
