YCS Style Diary: An Unexpected Pair

By Erika, Resident Fashionista

I have the pleasure of serving on the Praise Team at my church. Each week we are given a color scheme to wear to help the team look unified and cohesive. Usually I’m 100% behind the color combos; but every now and then we get a color scheme that leaves me thinking “I don’t get it.” This was the case when we got “red and turquoise” as our main color combo.

I would be lying to you if I said that I was excited about this scheme. I was not. I had no idea how it was going to work. It had just never occurred to me to try to put these colors together. And, I bet, for many of you it never occurred to you to try and pair these two colors. However, when I paired the two colors and anchored them with white and tan something magical happened. I ended up with a look inspired by a southwestern color scheme that looked natural, native, and, much to my surprise, super cute!!

Today’s style diary is another twist on the contrasting color pairing that is perfect for the springtime weather. Light, airy, and fun – this outfit is perfect for an afternoon date, lunch with friends, or a casual evening activity.

I chose to keep things simple and subtle and love the way the colors pop against each other. Will you guys be trying this color combo? Can you think of any other combos that seem “out there” but end up working? You know the drill!
