All year long I received some of the beauty industry’s best products in my monthly Beauty Box 5 (BB5) subscription. In addition to sharing the deets about what showed up in my December BB5, I’ll also share my three favorite products found in 12 months-worth of BB5 beauty products.
What is Beauty Box 5?
Beauty Box 5 is a subscription-based, beauty sampling program that delivers a box filled with 5 cosmetic/beauty samples to your door every month! The best part is that the monthly subscription is only $12/month. Or, if you want to pay even less sign-up for a quarterly subscription which is $30/quarter ($10/month) or an annual subscription for $99 ($8.25/month).
Each month you get a box filled with full-size and sample-size products selected by the Beauty Box 5 beauty editors. The products are a mix of luxury items, everyday items, commonly known brands, niche brands, and eco-conscious brands. The box includes a variety of products including hair care, make-up, skin care, nail care, etc. Pretty much, you get a whole bunch of beauty awesomeness in one tiny package – which is shipped to your home for free!
December Beauty Box 5
The December 2014 BB5 contained the following items:
1. Jaqua Raspberry Buttercream Frosting Hand Creme ($18-$36/various sizes, #jaquabeauty)
2. Absolute! New York Nail Polish Remover in Spring Fresh ($2.99/32 pads, #absoluteny)
3. Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Moisturizer ($65.00/1.7oz, #juicebeauty)
4. Nanacoco Nail Polish (Glitter) in Ruby ($3.95/0.5oz, #nanacoco)
5. Lucky Brand Fragrance in Lucky Number 6 ($15.00-$60.00/various sizes and products)
The December BB5 definitely packed a year-end punch, and I am especially fond of the stem cellular moisturizer; however, nothing in the box could crack my top three fave BB5 products of 2014.
Best of Beauty Box 5
Throughout 2014 I received 60 products to try from BB5. Some I loved, some I hated, and lots I tried once and then gave away to my friends. The following products, however, stood out from the pack as my top picks from BB5 in 2014.
3. Laura Ashley Coconut Lime Body Butter
I’m not sure which I love more about this body butter – the exotic, tropical scent that instantly makes me think of warm beaches and hot sand or the nourished, silky smooth skin I enjoy after each application. It doesn’t really matter as both the scent and smoothness are the perfect defense against the winter blues.
2. Revlon Bold Lacquer Length & Volume Mascara
Unlike my brother, nephew, and niece I was not blessed with naturally long, luscious eyelashes. But nobody has to know when I wear this mascara! This mascara give volume and definition while lifting lashes. Eyelash curler optional.
1. Nanacoco Lipgloss in Caramel Latte
As a woman of color it is often hard to find a nude lip color that looks good and natural on my skin tone. Enter this perfect specimen! Not only is the color subtle but the gloss is smooth, not sticky, and long-lasting. I am in love!
